A Week of Innovation: Global Roto Moulding Opens Doors for Factory Tours

We had an amazing week of factory tours at Global Roto Moulding last week! 🙌 Our youngest visitor was just 6 months old, and our oldest was 96! Seeing such a diverse group learning about our manufacturing process and commitment to sustainability was wonderful.

With over 500 visitors, thanks to everyone who joined us!

Led by our CFO, Larissa Lloyd-Ward, and Victorian Manager, Kelvin, the tours welcomed students from local schools and various community members, giving them a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into our innovative manufacturing and design processes.

Guests were introduced to the full scope of our product design process, which involves close collaboration with clients to create custom solutions. We showcased our mould design phase, which is crucial to ensuring that the final product meets both functional and aesthetic requirements. Our factory features a variety of moulds that produce products of all shapes and sizes, ranging from water tanks to custom-built industrial solutions.

A key highlight of the tour was the demonstration of the different types of plastics we use in our products, each selected for its durability and suitability for specific applications. Visitors learned about the various materials we work with, such as polyethylene, which is commonly used in our hollow products due to its strength and flexibility.

We also provided a step-by-step overview of the roto-moulding process, which allows us to create hollow, seamless products with uniform wall thickness. This process begins with loading powdered plastic into a mould. The mould is then heated and rotated along two axes to ensure the plastic evenly coats the interior surface. Once the plastic has melted and adhered to the mould, it is cooled, and the final product is carefully removed. After this, we employ robotic trimming technology to finish the product, ensuring precision and quality.

Our team was excited to showcase not only the technical side of our manufacturing process but also the craftsmanship and innovation that go into every product we create. We hope our visitors left with a deeper appreciation of how we design and manufacture high-quality, long-lasting solutions tailored to meet Australia’s demanding conditions.

Visitors also had the opportunity to see the various moulds we use and learn about the different types of plastics that go into our products, which are designed for a range of uses, from agriculture to mining. Importantly, we are committed to sustainability. We use multi-use plastics that can be recycled and proudly recycle all our scrap plastic, packaging, cardboard, wrap, and other materials such as cans. We hope the visitors gained a deeper understanding of our operations and the care we take in ensuring the longevity of our products.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in our tours and look forward to continuing our commitment to producing Australian-made products that support various industries, from agriculture to mining.
